Music At The Mill (support by Joan Quille)

Fresh from a series of sell-out gigs, York-based collective, The Grand Old Uke of York will be gracing the stage At The Mill in an unusual twist to their norm. This dynamic and entertaining group will be twisting their usual set list on its head to bring gorgeous, paired back vocals, buttery harmonies and ukuleles played with summery vibes, (rather than their usual rock mode), to The Mill.

They have had a colourful history since forming over 10 years ago and they love nothing more than bending your perspective of ukuleles, this is a rare chance to see the group stripped back and ‘almost’ unplugged.

With a host of experience in their field their back catalogue is varied to say the least. With appearances at large festivals such as Carfest, Big Feastival, Underneath the Stars, The Great Yorkshire Fringe, Beverley Folk Festival, Grassington Festival, Meadowfest to Opening the Tour de France at Leeds Arena as part of the Hope & Social collective (with our very own Gary Stewart), to playing at George Harrisons 75th Birthday Party in the Cavern Club. They have also featured in their own Toyota advert and played at Burlesque nights - the group have literally, seen it all!

Along with supporting headline acts from The Shires, Newton Faulkner, Ward Thomas, KT Tunstall and the world’s top ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro - they keep themselves busy by hitting the recording studio!

This rare, paired back performance is going to be one of those summer essentials.
